Baby Bridges has finally ARRIVED!!!

After so many months of anticipation we were finally able to meet our baby girl!
10-22-08 @ 2:25 pm our lil bundle of newness entered into the world bright eyed and beautiful! At birth she weighed 7 lbs 8.6 oz and was 20.1 inches long. As far as the delivery went, here is how it happened:
3:15 am- We arrived at the Banner Gateway hospital and finished the paperwork
4:30 am- They started Heather on the Pitocin drip to induce labor
8:45 am- After no progress at all our wonderful OB Dr. Layton came in and broke Heather's water and not soon after came the labor pains :(

11:30 am- After 3 hours of laboring Heather decided to get off of the pain train and start the epidural which she claims was heaven sent, after that it was smooth sailing! At this point she was already 4.5 cm dilated.
12:30 pm- Heather was 8 cm dilated and still lovin life!
1:30 pm- The nurse came in to check up and Heather was dilated to 9 cm at which point she told us that it would be about another hour before she would be ready to start pushing. Since she was a first timer, it would probably be another 2 hours of pushing before she would finally deliver. So I went to sleep and all the rest of the family went out to get lunch.

1:50 pm- Heather wakes me up saying that she had called the nurse because she was starting to feel some pressure. By the time I could process what she was saying the nurse was in to assess the situation. She said that she could already see the head and she was worried if the Doctor would make it in time. So the nurses got Heather into position.
2:10 pm- Dr. Layton rushes into the room got gowned up in just enough time. Heather gav
e about 5-6 pushes and out popped our lil one.
2:25 pm- Extreme Elation!!
Things we remember about the day:
1. How awake and alert she was as soon as she was born
2. She didn't cry hardly at all but she just kind of looked around and observed the situation.
3. How brave Heather was through it all.
4. How crazy birth is.
5. How much love and support our family and friends were there to give.
6. Looking at my daughter for the first time...she stole my heart!!!
